If you are really interested in saving money and controlling your expenses than you need a budget. A budget will keep track of all of your income while at the same time keeping track of all of your expenditures. You can easily at a glance see how your finances are. By keeping to a budget, you can save money and reach your financial goals.
That’s the advice always given, but it ignores one important idea. Your budget needs to be flexible in some respects. It’s a good idea to take a look at your budget every few months to make changes needed to keep your budget current.

One place where people don’t often look to save money is on insurance. People take the rate offered by their insurance without doing much comparison shopping. That might have worked 10 years ago, but with the huge amount of competition in insurance, it’s not a smart thing to do.
It’s so easy to check out quotes online. You can save a bundle of money every month by just spending a few minutes finding the best offer possible. If you are strapped for cash, you need to start doing it right now. Remember, a penny saved is a penny earned.

It seems like every time I go to the stores, prices have gone up! It seems like there is no end in sight. I think the politicians are lying about this 4% inflation thing. I know prices have gone up a lot more than that and it is really starting to affect our budget.
In order to fight the high price of food, we are doing a lot more cooking inside. We have really done a lot of eating outside the home, but now we are really focusing on doing as much cooking at home as we can. It seems like we just continually are tightening our belts.
Maybe it’s time I really get down to opening up a real business of my own to augment our income. I am serious.

We normally do not go out to eat very often. It’s an expensive luxury that seems rather wasteful. I much prefer cooking at home where I can better control the quality of food that my family eats, but we like to splurge from time to time.
This splurge meant going out for pizza. It’s been awhile since the last time we went out to buy pizza, but it’s always a family favorite. We ordered a family sized pizza as always. When the pizza arrived at the table, I was a bit shocked. It seems like I remember the family sized pizza being a lot bigger.
I don’t know if it was a joke or an attempt at cost cutting. I know I’d prefer seeing a slight increase in prices while keeping the sizes the same. All of us went home a bit hungry and I ended up having to make up sandwiches anyways. What a loss.

I know that in times past, people have started victory gardens in order to save money on their monthly food bill. The term victory garden comes from World War II. People were encouraged to save money and save food by growing their own food. This meant that more food could be devoted to the war effort and inflation could be kept in check.
Victory gardens were a big success and have been used many times since. That’s why I think it’s a good idea to use them now. With inflation accelerating and pushing food prices higher, I think it’s better to grow your own food if you have the space. Why pay the supermarket such high prices when you can grow them yourself?
You can grow a garden if you have a large yard, but you also grow a container garden if you just have a patio. Just plant some tomatoes, pole beans and some herbs in some cut out milk jugs and you are set. You can be taking care of a portion of your family’s food budget.

I just realized that I have given tips for small businesses to open, but I haven’t given any specific frugal living tips. I decided to sit down and come up with 5 simple frugal living tips so that you can maybe save a little bit of money and be more financially secure.
1) Recycle everything. A good idea is to contact your recycling center and see what they are buying. Keep the list handy and don’t toss anything away that can be recycled for cash.
2) Buy in bulk during sales. Sometimes, a good deal comes along at the supermarket. It could be a great buy on canned food or staples. Make sure you pick up as much as you can of the stuff that you use on a regular basis.
3) Plan your trips carefully. When you get into your car, make sure that you are making the most efficient use of the gasoline as possible.
4) Don’t go out to eat. I know sometimes it is easy to buy food when you are out, but it’s better to eat before you leave or take some snacks with you. You’ll save a bundle.
5) Consider taking public transportation to work. It’s not fun to use public transportation for errands, but if you are going just to work, it can save you a lot of money, especially with the way gas is these days.

Frugal living is what many of us need to do with the economy doing what the economy is doing. It’s tough and I know some friends who have lost their jobs. They have had a tough time of it because they weren’t prepared for the loss of income.
When one of my best friends lost her job, I decided that I would make sure that my family was prepared. One of the things we have done is buying extra food each time I go to the market. I make sure that we have some staple food back. That means extra rice, flour and canned goods.
A second thing I have done is make sure that we have a budget and we stick to it. It means coming up with a weekly food budget that we adhere to and a monthly expenses budget that we adhere to. If we are over budget on gas for the car, we don’t drive.
It was very tough when we first started doing this, but now it is much easier and the savings are good.
