Don’t Worry About The Bad Things

There are many bad things in the world. It seems like these bad things are trying to distract from our journey. It seems like these things are keeping us from reaching our goals. It’s very sad that this is true.

If we can be kept from our destination, there are some that will claim victory over us and we can not let that be. We must be diligent and not let others negatively affect us. That is why I love this quote from Bruce R McConkie so much:

Amid tears of sorrow—our hearts heavy with forebodings—we see evil and crime and carnality covering the earth. Liars and thieves and adulterers and homosexuals and murderers scarcely seek to hide their abominations from our view. Iniquity abounds. There is no peace on earth.

We see evil forces everywhere uniting to destroy the family, to ridicule morality and decency, to glorify all that is lewd and base. We see wars and plagues and pestilence. Nations rise and fall. Blood and carnage and death are everywhere. Gadianton robbers fill the judgment seats in many nations. An evil power seeks to overthrow the freedom of all nations and countries. Satan reigns in the hearts of men; it is the great day of his power.

But amid it all, the work of the Lord rolls on. The gospel is preached and the witness is born. The elect of God forsake the traditions of their fathers and the ways of the world. The kingdom grows and prospers, for the Lord is with his people.

Our New Web Project

My husband and I have started a brand new website project. I have alluded to it in past posts, but now we have a new website to join our list of joint projects. First we had home weather stations, but now we have a new one, herbal natural remedies.

It’s going to differ from other sites we have done because this one will have a series of herbal informational pages as its main site and then be supported by the herbal natural remedies blog. This should make it sufficiently popular. I am anxious to see people take advantage of information about herbal remedies that we have collected over the years. It’s going to be great. See you there!

Selling At The Swap Meet

Well, it’s spring time and the spring cleaning is done. It’s amazing how much stuff we have acquired in just the last 6 months that we don’t use anymore. Usually I am inclined to have a spring yard sale when we have this much extra stuff, but our house is not the best place for a yard sale and we may not get enough traffic to make it worthwhile.

That’s why we are thinking about taking our stuff to a swap meet. It’s cheaper than taking out an ad in the newspaper and there is a lot of foot traffic there. That means we can make even more extra money. It looks like we will doing it as a family outing.

Getting Ready For Summer

This weekend we will be preparing the house for summer. This will be our first summer in the house and while summer aren’t hot around here, it’s still a good idea to keep the house feeling as cool as possible. We are not interested in using air con so this weekend will focus on making the house better handle the warm weather of summer.

We will be putting a ceiling fan in every room this weekend. Ceiling fans are good for moving around the heat. I will also be buying some box fans that are easy to take from place to place should the need for spot cooling around. We will also being doing some repair work to the deck so that we can spend more time outside.

I am anxious for summer to come!

Home Buying Success

It’s been really nice having our own home now. It’s nice knowing that we will eventually own and that we are building equity right now. That means that we are making money off of our home payments. It’s almost like a savings plan.

A lot of people are interested in how we did and ask us often. First off, we got fixer upper. This meant that we could build sweat equity right from the get-go. Secondly, we shopped around for the best loan at the lowest rate possible so we could save on our payments. All in all, we’ve have a very positive home buying experience.

My Niece

One of the things that I love so much about living so close to my husband’s family is the chances we get to to spend time with them. I love my inlaws so much and I am really a part of their family. I especially love spending time with my niece.

I just have two boys, but my husband and I really want to have a daughter. Until that happens, I get to spend my time with niece. She still isn’t quite a year old, but she is a blast to spend time with. She is so cute and also very intelligent.

I just hope we have a daughter like her. :)

Movies For Families

It’s hard to get movies for families these days. I love having a nice movie during Family Home Evening for us and the kids, but it’s hard. Many movies are just not appropriate for kids these days. It seems like there is too much violence or just family unfriendly values.

Maybe that’s why I was so happy to get a telemarketing call from Feature Films for Families yesterday. I really like how they were able to tell me about some great movies for my family. I’ve seen a few of the movies from Feature Films for Families in the past and they are great for the kids.

I went ahead and ordered some new movies. I can’t wait to get them in the mail.

Baseball With The Kids

Yesterday we bought a tee for the boys to use when practicing their batting. I don’t know if there is a age group for my youngest son, but my older son will be joining little league this summer. He is still learning how to hit so the batting tee should help him a lot.

In the last week, he has really improved his catching. It took him awhile to get a hold of using the baseball mitt, but he is doing great now. Maybe my sons will be baseball stars? I doubt it, but at least they are playing a sport that they love and learning how to work together.

Family Home Evening

I am having a lot of fun with the kids now on Family Home Evening. Now that we have made it a part of our weekly routine, I am really starting to see the benefits of it. For example, my kids are learning how to sing the Gospel songs. It’s really nice.

Also my kids are learning how to play together better. We are able to play games together as a family and even choose teams. Uno is a fun game, even though the kids are too young to play it, they are good at playing with a partner.

I only wish our family was a bit larger and then we could enjoy it more. :)

My Boys Love Baseball

It took awhile, but my boys have finally developed a sports passion. They can actually sit and watch a game on TV and are interested enough to play it every chance they get. What sport is it? It’s baseball of course.

When you think about it, baseball is a multifaceted game. First, there is the interaction between the pitcher and the batter. It is almost like a duel. Then there is the hitting, the catching and the running. When I see my kids getting into the game, I really feel like baseball is a lot less boring than I thought.

Am I becoming a closet baseball fan?
